Friends of the Library 
In honor of Friends of New Rochelle Day (October 23, 2011) as proclaimed by Mayor Noam Bramson, LIbrary Board President Gregory Varian presented the Mayoral Proclamation to Friends Co-President Amy Tietz at the October 13th Library Board meeting New Rochelle Public library will be celebrating Friends of New Rochelle Public Library Week October 16 - 22 (proclaimed by Mayor Noam Bramson) in honor of the national Friends of Libraries week. The library will be distributing book marks and library staff will be wearing buttons commemorating this event. Become a Member of the Friends of the Library at a minimum cost of $5.00 per year and receive the monthly mailing of the Friends Newsletter, and program flyers and calendars that list all upcoming events, children’s programs, classes, concerts and other library activities. The Friends of the Library is a totally volunteer, non-profit organization that supports the interests of the library in public and governmental meetings; raises money from membership dues and book sales to fund a variety of programs and activities in the library; runs a Book Store (link to the Friends Book Store under programs) on the first floor of the library, selling quality used books; conducts Monthly Book Sales of hardcover and paperback books, gift books, videos, DVDs, and other quality used materials, in the library lobby; and accepts donations of books, videos, dvds, etc… in good condition.
