Friends of the Library
Become a Member of the Friends of the Library at a minimum cost of $10.00 per year and receive the monthly mailing of the Friends Newsletter, and program flyers and calendars that list all upcoming events, children’s programs, classes, concerts and other library activities. The Friends of the Library is a totally volunteer, non-profit organization that supports the interests of the library in public and governmental meetings; raises money from membership dues and book sales to fund a variety of programs and activities in the library; runs a Book Store (link to the Friends Book Store under programs) on the first floor of the library, selling quality used books; conducts Monthly Book Sales of hardcover and paperback books, gift books, videos, DVDs, and other quality used materials, in the library lobby; and accepts donations of books, dvds, etc… in good condition.
Currently, the elevator is out of service and until it is repaired, the Friends are only able to accept two bags or two boxes of donated materials at a time. Remember, they do not accept encyclopedia sets, VHS tapes, dated text, health or business books.
The Friends are in desperate need of volunteers to help them process and organize donated books. They are looking for someone who can work on their own initiative and are comfortable carrying a number of books at a time (especially while our elevator is out of commission). Are you, or do you know someone who is recently retired, or perhaps a stay-at-home parent with children in school full-time?
